HIFU Procedure Video
This video takes you through an animated version of the Ablatherm HIFU procedure. This non-invasive procedure typically takes 2 -3 hours and is performed on an out-patent basis.
Prostate cancer treatment with high intensity focused ultrasound is non-invasive and results in a quicker recovery time and fewer significant side effects than treatment by radiation or surgery. The HIFU procedure requires a local or general anesthetic and is performed by a urological surgeon trained in HIFU.
The Maple Leaf HIFU clinic is staffed with leading urologists certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American College of Surgeons. Clinic nurses are also registered and specially trained. The Maple Leaf HIFU clinic is located in the Cleveland Clinic Canada in downtown Toronto and was the first North American clinic to offer high intensity focused ultrasound to treat prostate cancer.
